Agartala, 10th December 2024:    A historic protest march and public meeting were held in Kailashahar on Tuesday afternoon by the Hindu Aikya Manch demanding the release of Brahmachari Chinmoy Das Prabhu, the member of ISKCON in Bangladesh and protesting against the atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh. The procession led by lawyers Sandip Debroy, Gautam Das, Dipak Bhattacharya and others commenced from the Tri-Junction in the Serampore area.

The protest march traversed various roads in Kailashahar including Govindapur Central Road, Hospital Road, PWD Road, Netaji Corner, Girls School Road, and Shantila Road culminating at the R.K.I School Ground near the India-Bangladesh international border.

Before the public meeting began, protesters approached the India-Bangladesh international border at Manu Land Customs in Kailashahar raising slogans against Border Guards of Bangladesh for about half an hour. Additional BSF, CRPF, police and TSR personnel were deployed at the border to maintain law and order. The police eventually brought the situation under control, allowing the public meeting to proceed.

Addressing the gathering, lawyer Debroy criticized the Yunus-led government of Bangladesh for the unjust arrest of ISKCON member Brahmachari Chinmoy Das Prabhu. “The Hindu Aikya Manch will continue its movement against the Bangladesh government until Chinmoy Das is released unconditionally,” Debroy asserted. He condemned the oppression of minorities in Bangladesh, calling it unacceptable and highlighting the global movement against such injustices.

Debroy reminded the audience of the historical context, stating, “The Bangladesh government has forgotten that if the Indian government had not stepped forward and helped in 1971, independent Bangladesh would not have been born.” He accused the current regime of betraying their liberators, likening them to Mirzafars (traitors).

The protest highlighted the deep-seated frustrations and demands for justice among the Hindu community, with calls for continued vigilance and solidarity in the face of ongoing challenges.
