Agartala, February 20: SI Shivshankar Saha, a police officer known for his integrity and anti-corruption stance, has been transferred from Baikhora police station to Belonia police station by the Superintendent of Police of the Southern district. The transfer came after Saha exposed several cases of corruption and illegal activities in Baikhora, involving some of his colleagues and seniors.
According to sources, Saha had protested against the embezzlement of Rs 20,000 from a car accident victim by the owner of the car, who had allegedly shared the money with the station head. Saha had also raised his voice against the open gambling that was taking place in Jolaibari under the name of Ananda Mela, which was ignored by the police station. Saha’s actions had angered the corrupt officers, who plotted to get rid of him by influencing the Superintendent of Police.
The transfer of Saha has sparked outrage among the people of Baikhora, who appreciated his honesty and courage. They have demanded that the higher authorities of the State Police intervene and reinstate Saha in Baikhora, and take action against the corrupt officers. They have also expressed their fear that the corruption and illegal activities will increase in Baikhora without Saha’s presence.
