Police sources confirmed that Karpul Necha, a resident of Pramod Nagar in Sepahijala district’s Bishramganj police station area left her home carrying gold ornaments and traveled to Udaipur in an auto-rickshaw.

The news quickly spread, leading residents to chase the vehicle. The pursuit intensified when Necha reached Bagma Karaiyamura area, where a crowd surrounded the auto. A youth who intervened fled the scene upon questioning the crowd’s actions. Meanwhile, locals searched Necha’s belongings sparking further commotion.

The Bagma Outpost police were notified prompting OC in-charge Surya Mohan Das to rush to the scene. Police safely escorted Necha from the crowd and brought her to the station for questioning. Upon being asked by her husband’s family about the gold ornaments, Necha revealed they were in her bag—only for the ornaments to be found missing.

Police initiated a search and after a three-hour effort, recovered a necklace and a pair of gold earrings from an individual at the scene. The items were returned to Necha’s family around midnight.
