Agartala, 2nd February 2025:   In a shocking incident, a husband and wife were attacked by local residents in the Latiyapura area of Kailashahar subdivision on allegations of selling drugs. The tragic event took place earlier today, triggering tension in the area.

According to reports, the couple had allegedly been involved in drug peddling for a long time. Locals had repeatedly warned them to discontinue the illicit activity, but their involvement reportedly persisted and even increased. Frustrated by the lack of action, a group of residents confronted the couple this morning, leading to their brutal lynching.

The deceased had reportedly claimed that they were compelled to sell drugs due to financial hardship. However, this plea did not deter the enraged locals from taking matters into their own hands.

Following the incident, tension gripped the locality, prompting police intervention. Upon receiving information, law enforcement officials rushed to the scene and managed to bring the situation under control. The police have since launched an investigation into the incident, with efforts underway to identify those responsible for the mob attack.

Authorities have urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and assured that strict action will be taken against illegal activities, including drug trafficking.
