Husband reports wife missing after alleged theft of money and gold ornaments

Agartala, 21st May 2025 :  A man has approached the police after his wife allegedly disappeared with money and gold ornaments leaving him and their children in distress. The incident took place in the Aralia Gram Panchayat area of Charilam block.

Sources informed, Raju Mia, a resident of Ranirbazar Gomra Kograpara had been working in Chennai when he received information about his wife Mampi Begum. Acting immediately, he booked an emergency flight and returned home yesterday. Upon arrival, he went to his in-laws’ house in Charilam to bring back his wife and children but found that his wife was missing.

When Mia attempted to take his children home, his in-laws refused to hand them over. He further alleged that he was assaulted when he insisted on taking custody of his children. Mia claimed that his wife had taken her jewelry and cash before moving to her parental home, but now she was nowhere to be found.

Feeling helpless, Mia reported the matter to both the Bishalgarh Women’s Police Station and the Bishalgarh Police Station, seeking assistance in locating his wife. He stated that he would not leave his children at his in-laws’ house and if necessary, would arrange for them to be placed in a government home until his wife is found.The distressed husband also spoke to the media, appealing for police intervention in the case.
