Agartala, 15th May 2026: The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council has announced new austerity measures aimed at cutting government spending in view of rising fuel and energy costs.
Under the revised arrangement, all Council employees will be required to attend office physically for three days a week—Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. For the remaining working days, Thursday, Friday and Saturday (excluding the 2nd and 4th Saturdays), employees will work from home under a structured remote working system.
The decision has been taken in line with the appeal of Prime Minister Narendra Modi encouraging institutions and citizens to reduce fuel consumption and adopt work-from-home practices wherever possible.
The order also emphasizes that employees must not leave their station without prior approval or proper intimation to the competent authority. During work-from-home days, staff are expected to remain accessible through phone and electronic communication to handle official responsibilities and urgent matters as required.
In addition, as part of its cost-cutting and environmental efforts, the Council has decided to encourage the use of electric vehicles for official transport wherever feasible. The directive will not be applicable to employees engaged in essential or emergency services. The new system will come into effect from May 16, 2026, and will remain valid until further orders.
