Agartala, 20th August 2025:   Maj Gen Suresh Kumar Bhambhu, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) today called upon Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar and Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF), Frontier Headquarters Agartala, A.K. Sharma.

Sources said the meeting, held in Agartala, focused on enhancing synergy among the central and state security agencies and strengthening the overall border management mechanism in the state.

With Tripura sharing a long and porous international boundary with Bangladesh, officials underscored the importance of coordinated action to address challenges such as illegal cross-border movement, smuggling of narcotics and contraband items, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes.

The officers reportedly emphasized the need for real-time intelligence sharing, joint operations, and increased patrolling in sensitive stretches of the border. Sources added that discussions also touched upon the use of advanced technology for surveillance, building stronger community engagement in border villages, and ensuring that security measures do not disrupt local livelihood activities.

According to officials, both Assam Rifles and BSF, in close coordination with the state police, are working on refining standard operating procedures to plug existing gaps and improve response mechanisms. The meeting, sources maintained, reflects a broader strategy to bolster national security while maintaining peace and stability in Tripura’s border areas.
