Illegally stored firecrackers seized by Police-BSF in Boxanagar

Agartala Oct 25: One day after Diwali/Kali Puja, in a joint operation of police and BSF, a large amount of Sound crackers was recovered from one Bapan Das’s residence in Ratandola area of Boxanagar.

According to the details, Police of Kalamchoura PS along with 150TH Battalion BSF started searching the house of Bapan Das since 10am on Tuesday morning on the basis of information from its secret sources. Search of his house revealed around 25 cartoons of firecrackers illegally stored.Police said the recovered sound crackers costs around Rs 7lakh.

The recovered boxes were first taken to the Kalamchoura police station and then taken to Boxanagar BOP and later was seized by customs. It is known that the owner of the godown in Boxanagar Bazar is an established businessman .He has been involved in illegal business for a long time. However, question remains whether he is involved in smuggling the firecrackers to Bangladesh illegally.
