INDI alliance threatens CPIM’s existence: Biplab

Agartala, 7th April 2024:    Biplab Kumar Deb, the former Chief Minister and candidate for the West Parliamentary seat, criticized the INDI alliance, expressing concern that aligning with the Congress could spell doom for the CPIM.

“Entering into an alliance with the Congress under Jitendra Chaudhury’s leadership might sound like a strategic move, but it could potentially lead the Communist Party to its demise. Such a move could even see the CPIM’s office being sold off. Despite once boasting of a century-long rule in Tripura, the Modi wave swept them away. Now, joining forces with Congress might only hasten their decline, pushing them closer to oblivion,” Deb remarked during an election rally in Khayerpur Assembly Constituency.

He went on to criticize Manik Sarkar, who held the Chief Minister position for two decades by strategically sidelining Congress members due to his clean image and unwavering political ideals. However, Sarkar’s recent attempts to garner votes for Congress indicate a shift in his political stance under pressure.

“By joining hands with Congress, CPIM seems to be attempting to salvage their dwindling political existence, conveniently ignoring their past conflicts and ideological differences. It’s this very alliance that, according to Deb, paved the way for terrorism in Tripura, leaving the state’s underdeveloped populace to bear the brunt of its repercussions,” he added.

Deb further alleged that despite their apparent political animosity, there exists an underlying camaraderie between the two parties, hinting at a deeper bond beyond mere surface-level disagreements.
