Agartala, April 03: The Congress and CPIM have united under a common agenda to safeguard democracy and oppose the ruling BJP government in India. The announcement came during a press conference organized by the Election Campaign Committee at Agartala Press Club, where Convener Jitendra Chowdhury expressed the alliance’s stance.
Chowdhury highlighted the changing dynamics between the two parties, emphasizing that while there were historical differences, they are now united to defend the nation’s democratic values. He accused the BJP of endangering democracy and warned of dire consequences if it continues to undermine democratic institutions.
Pointing to recent incidents like the Kumarghat chariot accident, Chowdhury alleged that the BJP-led government is attempting to obstruct investigations to shield the guilty parties. He criticized the government’s handling of the situation, accusing them of protecting the accused instead of ensuring justice.
Joint convener Sudip Roy Barman also criticized the BJP government, alleging corruption and betrayal of promises made to the people. Barman particularly criticized the state’s Maharaja for his alleged involvement in financial schemes and his support for BJP’s policies, including the Greater Tipraland initiative.
The press conference was attended by leaders from eight parties within the India Block coalition, signaling a broader opposition movement against the BJP’s governance and policies. As tensions escalate between the ruling party and opposition factions, the political landscape in India is witnessing significant shifts with alliances forming to challenge the status quo.
