Agartala, 9th June 2026: The Regional Council (RC-18) of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and the department of Physics of the ICFAI University Tripura jointly organized the Annual Convention of RC-18 Annual Convention on 7th June at the ICFAI University Tripura Campus focused on the importance of reimagining physics education for the 21st century. More than one hundred teachers, researchers, and students participated in the event.
The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder. Other distinguished guests from Regional Council were Swapan Majumdar, Secretary ,Dr. Pramod Ranjan Bhattacharya, Founder President; Prof. (Dr.) Anirban Guha, Professor, Tripura University; Prof. (Dr.) A. Ranganath, Registrar of ICFAI University Tripura; Prof. (Dr.) Priyanshu Rana Barathakur, Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology; Dr. Dipayan Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor and other faculty members of the University. The President of Indian Association of Physics Teachers, Prof. P. K. Ahluwalia; General Secretary, Prof. Rekha Ghorpade; and Prof. Ranjita Deka also attended the convention through online.
During the technical sessions, Prof. P. K. Ahluwalia delivered a lecture on the expansion and advancement of physics education in the modern era. Dr. Pramod Ranjan Bhattacharya spoke on Bragg’s X-ray Diffraction Law. Educational and academic discussions were also conducted by Dr. Anirban Guha, Dr. Dipayan Chattopadhyay and other experts.
The valedictory session was graced by the Director of National Institute of Technology Agartala, Prof. (Dr.) Sarat Kumar Patra, who addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Camellia Das, Head of the Department of Physics.
