IQAC of GDC, Kamalpur holds awareness & seminar program

Agartala, November 15. The Internal Quality Assessment Cell (IQAC) of the Government Degree College, Kamalpur organized an Awareness-cum-Seminar on the topic “Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955 & Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 on Tuesday at College Auditorium sponsored by Directorate of Tribal Welfare.

Banoj Biplab Das, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Kamalpur sub-division was the resource person of the day. He explained elaborately about the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989. He urged the students to be aware of the atrocities and spread awareness among the people. Dr. Jekap Halam, Assistant Professor was the second resource person who discussed the Protection of Civil Rights Act 1955. He also explained the important points of the Civil Rights Act 1955 and the punishments that are involved on committing the offence. Dr Subal Chandra Das, Teachers’ Council Secretary greeted everyone with his warm welcome address.

After the fruitful interaction on the topic, Dr Abhijit Sarkar, Principal, Government Degree College, Kamalpur concluded the programme by inviting the students to be a true human being and also to take a pro-active role on eliminating untouchability and atrocities.
