The gathering, attended by UK Chakma, IAS, Secretary of the Tourism Department, marked the beginning of an exciting chapter for the region’s tourism aspirations.

The discussions were centered around a series of ambitious proposals aimed at transforming Jampui Hill into a vibrant tourist destination. Key initiatives include the construction of a Sky-walk offering breathtaking views, the creation of scenic trekking routes, the development of an eco-park, and the promotion of the Thaidawr Tlâng (Betlingchhip) as a nature reserve. Additionally, the redevelopment of the Tlaksih paragliding site promises to offer adrenaline-pumping experiences to visitors.

BC Nunga, Chairman of the Jampui Hill RD Block BAC, also contributed valuable insights during the deliberations, emphasizing the importance of community-driven tourism. The meeting was a continuation of the positive momentum from the recent Tourism Promo Fest held at Vanghmun Playground, which highlighted the region’s untapped potential.

The proposed plans envision a tourism model that is both community-based and eco-friendly, ensuring sustainable economic growth while protecting the unique ecological and cultural treasures of Jampui Hill. Local arts, crafts, and traditions are set to play a central role, providing visitors with an authentic cultural experience that celebrates the rich heritage of the Mizo and other local communities.

Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury praised the proactive approach of the Mizo leaders, acknowledging their vision for a brighter future for Jampui Hill. He extended an invitation for a follow-up meeting after Christmas to further explore the feasibility and implementation of the proposed projects.

With these transformative initiatives in the pipeline, Jampui Hill is poised to become a beacon of sustainable tourism, fostering economic prosperity for local communities while preserving the region’s natural beauty and cultural legacy. The collaboration between the Mizo Convention and the state government signals a promising future for one of Tripura’s most scenic and culturally rich destinations.
