Jatrapur police destroy 55,000 marijuana plants at Thammamura forest

Agartala, 25th December 2024:   Acting on a tip-off, the Jatrapur police station successfully conducted an anti-marijuana drive in the Thammamura forest today, leading to the destruction of approximately 55,000 marijuana plants. This operation marks a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug cultivation in the region.

OC Subrata Debnath stated, “This morning, we received information indicating that marijuana was being cultivated in Thammamura under Jatrapur police station. Acting on this tip-off, we promptly organized and executed the drive.”

The operation was led by Police Inspector Arup Debbarma and Sub-Inspector Amar Kishore Debbarma, with support from the SP and jawans of the 11th TSR Battalion. The coordinated effort resulted in the successful eradication of the illegal crops.

OC Subrata Debnath emphasized the importance of continued vigilance, saying, “The drive will continue under the orders of higher authorities in the Home Department. We remain committed to conducting more operations whenever we receive credible information.”
