Agartala, March 14: In a significant boost to the local economy and tourism, the Jirania subdivision is set to witness the construction of a state-of-the-art amusement park in Sachindranagar Colony. The project, which is estimated to cost around 50 crore rupees, will be developed under the central government’s Swadesh Darshan Scheme, aimed at promoting tourism.
The announcement was made by Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury during the inauguration ceremony of the newly built Ranirbazar Revenue Circle office, located within the Ranirbazar Municipal Council premises. The minister highlighted that the amusement park would serve as a major attraction and provide a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors alike.
Minister Chowdhury also took the opportunity to address the government’s commitment to equitable development across all towns in the state, emphasizing the shift from a specific area-based development approach to a more inclusive strategy. He praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting the country’s growing global reputation due to its cultural heritage and the prime minister’s vision.
A special mention was made of the government’s focus on women empowerment, with the successful integration of more women into Self-Help Groups (SHGs), leading to the creation of over 83 thousand ‘Lakhpati didis’—a term used to describe women who have achieved a certain level of financial success through these groups.
The event also featured Shantiranjan Chakma, the SDM of Jirania sub-division, who expressed gratitude for the local funding that made the construction of the Ranirbazar Revenue Circle office possible. He announced plans for a two-storied building to be erected behind Gitanjali Town Hall, further enhancing the administrative infrastructure of the area.
Dignitaries present at the event included Ranirbazar Municipal Corporation Chairperson Aparna Sur Das, Vice Chairperson Prabir Kumar Das, Additional SDM Animesh Dhar, and social worker Gouranga Bhowmik.
The new amusement park is expected to not only provide entertainment but also facilitate various revenue-related services, including land deeds, parchas, and income certificates, benefiting the people of 14 moujas and 6 tehsils within the Jirania sub-division. This development marks a significant step towards the overall welfare and joint development of the state.
