Agartala, 24th October 2024: Tripura’s Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, sharply criticized Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Thursday, accusing him of “rambling” as he loses political influence.
Chaudhury, also a CPIM state committee secretary and sitting MLA, made these remarks in response to Pradyot’s recent statement, where the royal scion claimed that Chaudhury could have lost the last Assembly elections if Tipra Motha had fielded a candidate against him. Pradyot had further accused Chaudhury of neglecting the concerns of the indigenous communities in the state.
In a video message, Chaudhury hit back, highlighting that Pradyot has been advocating for issues like Greater Tipraland, a Constitutional Solution, and a Historical Agreement for the past six years, but no tangible outcomes have been achieved.
“He initially said ‘Community First, then Party,’ stirring emotions among indigenous youth, only to later manipulate their trust. While he’s enjoyed their support and the accompanying perks, these same people are now beginning to question his intentions,” Chaudhury stated. “As Pradyot’s influence wanes, he has started making incoherent statements. The love and respect he once enjoyed from the public will soon turn into its opposite,” he added.
