Joint operation leads to destruction of massive ganja plantations in Tripura

Agartala, 2nd December 2025 :In a major crackdown on illegal cannabis cultivation, police, forest officials, and paramilitary forces conducted coordinated operations in the Kalamchoura and Bangshibari areas under Sepahijala District today destroying 8 lakh ganja plantation.

From 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, the Officer-in-Charge of Kalamchoura Police Station, along with Kalamchoura Police station staff, TSR personnel (both men and women), CRPF, and forest department officials, carried out a joint operation in the North Kalamchoura GP, Pasania, and Takkamura Tila forest areas. During the operation, approximately 5.5 lakh pre-matured ganja plants spread across 48 plots were uprooted and destroyed on the spot.

Simultaneously, from 7:00 am to 11:00 am, the Officer-in-Charge of Bishalgarh Police Station, with support from Bishalgarh PS staff, TSR personnel, CRPF, and forest staff, conducted a similar operation in Raghunandan Para, Jagatrambari under the Bangshibari ADC area. Around 3 lakh pre-matured ganja plants across approximately 70 plots were destroyed during this operation.

Authorities emphasized that these coordinated efforts are part of ongoing measures to curb illegal drug cultivation and trafficking in the state. The successful operations highlight the vigilance and collaboration between law enforcement and forest authorities in protecting the region from illegal activities.
