Agartala, 2nd December 2025 : A shocking incident has once again rocked the Sonamura area near the local hospital, where a 13-year-old girl was allegedly molested and faced an attempted rape by a local deed writer.
According to police sources, the accused, identified as Jahar Mia, a man in his fifties notorious in the locality for various misdeeds, allegedly targeted the minor when she was alone at home. Taking advantage of the absence of her family members, he reportedly attempted to sexually assault her.
Terrified, the girl confided in her mother, who immediately lodged a written complaint at Sonamura Police Station late at night. Following the registration of the case, the accused fled the area and remains absconding.
Local residents have expressed strong anger, alleging that Zohor Mia has long been involved in antisocial activities. This latest accusation of child abuse has intensified public outrage, leading to widespread condemnation and unrest in the community.
Police have confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused.
