Journalist are mirror of society: CM Dr Saha

Agartala, July 26: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the crucial necessity of freedom for journalists, acknowledging them as the mirror of society, reflecting both the actions of the people and the government.

Speaking at the inauguration of a media workshop cum orientation programme at Agartala Press Club, he stressed the importance of journalists remaining impartial and neutral, even though it is a challenging task.

Dr. Saha shared that he had maintained a good relationship with journalists even before entering politics and continues to do so despite holding a political position now. He highlighted the significance of training in journalism, asserting that it is essential for overall development. He encouraged journalists to avoid complacency and continuously seek knowledge to improve their work.

The Chief Minister expressed his commitment to fostering a journalist-friendly environment in the state, stating that the government believes in taking action rather than just making promises. He underlined the state government’s efforts in supporting journalists and assured that all their problems would be addressed gradually.

Dr. Saha recognized journalists as the fourth pillar of democracy and emphasized that their freedom is indispensable. He stated that journalists play a vital role as referees, ensuring that unbiased information reaches the public and holding the government accountable for any mistakes made.

In conclusion, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to resolving journalist-related issues and creating an environment that upholds the freedom and integrity of journalism.
