Agartala, 21st June 2024: Under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society,” the 10th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm today at the Unkoti Kalakshetra premises in Kailashahar. The event was a collaborative effort by the Unakoti District Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Unakoti District Administration, National AYUSH Mission, and Nehru Yuva Kendra North Tripura, supported by various innovative social organizations.
The celebration commenced with a vibrant procession through the city, setting a festive tone for the day. The official inauguration of the program was marked by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, attended by distinguished guests. Among the dignitaries present were Unakoti District Magistrate and Deputy D.K. Chakma, IAS, Unakoti Zilla Parishad Sabhadipati Amlendu Das, Saha-Sabhadipati Shyamal Das, and District Sports Officer Amit Yadav. The event was presided over by Chairperson of Kailashahar Municipal Council, Chapala Debroy, with several other notable guests in attendance.
The day’s activities featured demonstrations of yoga exercises, showcasing participation from students of various schools, government employees, members of self-help groups, and representatives from different social service organizations. The importance of yoga for a healthy and beautiful life was highlighted by the speakers and the master craftsman during their addresses.
In North Tripura district, the 10th International Day of Yoga was also celebrated in front of the Swami Vivekananda Swardha Satabarshiki Bhavan in Dharmanagar town, organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra North Tripura. This program was officially inaugurated by Biswabandhu Sen, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, further emphasizing the widespread commitment to promoting yoga across the region.
