Kailashahar police detain 10 rohingyas en route to Bangladesh

Agartala, 18th January 2025:   The Irani police station in Kailashahar under Unakoti district detained 10 Rohingyas on their way to Bangladesh from Hyderabad. The detainees included four children were found without valid documents prompting the police to file a case against them.

According to the Irani police station, they received a report on the 15th indicating the presence of 10 Rohingyas in Kailashahar. Acting on this information, the police conducted an operation and detained the individuals. “We received a report about the arrival of 10 Rohingyas in Kailashahar. Based on this report, we detained them during a police operation,” said an official from the Irani police station.

Upon questioning, it was revealed that the detained Rohingyas had traveled from Hyderabad and intended to cross into Bangladesh through the Kailashahar border. “After questioning, we found that they were coming from Hyderabad and were planning to go to Bangladesh. They did not have any valid documents,” the police official added.
