Agartala, 17th November 2025: The Kailashahar Press Club organized a two-day celebration of National Press Day 2025, highlighting the theme “Safeguarding Media Credibility Amid Rising Misinformation.”
The program featured discussions, cultural performances, and community activities, drawing participation from senior and young journalists, officials, educators, and citizens. The event began with floral tributes to renowned singer Zubeen Garg and a minute’s silence in memory of victims of the recent Delhi blast, followed by an inaugural musical performance by local artists.
Among the dignitaries present were Kailashahar Municipal Chairperson Chapla Debroy, District Education Officer Prashanta Kilikdar, DCM Sanjib Debbarma, former Press Club president Mohit Pal, Press Club secretary Sukanta Chakraborty, and senior journalists Satyajit Dutta and Pralayendu Choudhury.
In his welcome address, Secretary Chakraborty emphasized the Press Club’s role in both journalism and social service. Speakers Dutta and Choudhury underscored the challenges posed by misinformation, stressing ethics, objectivity, and fact-checking as vital to journalism’s credibility. Education Officer Kilikdar added that reliable reporting strengthens democracy.
As part of the celebration, winners of a children’s art competition held on November 15 were awarded, with guests praising the creativity of young participants.
