Agartala, 8th May 2026: Residents of Ward No. 5 under Hirachara Gram Panchayat in Kailashahar block have been enduring severe hardship for nearly 25 days due to persistent electricity problems.
Local sources informed that the recent storm caused an electricity pole to collapse onto a house, damaging its tin roof and allowing rainwater to seep inside. The fallen pole also left wires dangling dangerously close to the ground, creating a constant risk of fatal accidents across the area.
Despite repeated complaints to the Kailashahar Sai Company, the agency responsible for electricity services, no effective action has been taken so far. As a result, around 15 to 16 families have been forced to live in darkness for weeks.
Residents warn that the hanging wires pose a grave threat to both people and animals. Expressing deep concern, locals have declared that if the issue is not resolved within the next 24 hours, they will launch a larger protest by gheraoing the Kailashahar electricity office on May 13 next.
The situation has triggered widespread anger and tension in the community. Affected families and villagers are demanding immediate intervention to restore normal electricity services and ensure safety.
