Agartala Oct 26: In connection with the brutal incident of gang rape that took place on Tuesday night under Kalyanpur PS, Police on Wednesday arrested an accused namely Tapash Debnath.
According to the details, a minor girl was returning to her house on Tuesday night at around 11 pm went missing and was allegedly raped by a group of miscreants.
The family members later found their daughter in a very painful condition on Wednesday. A complaint was lodged with the police station by the victim’s family alleging that their daughter was gang raped by miscreants namely Aditya Das, Tapas Debnath and Ratan Debnath.
Police on Wednesday detained one of the three accused persons identified as Tapas Debnath, while others remained absconding. Police official Prasun Kanti Tripura, who is leading the investigation, said that the rest of the accused persons would be arrested soon.However, the rising incidents of crime against women across the state have triggered panic among the citizens.
