Agartala Nov 05: Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tripura, Shushanta Chowdhury on Saturday chaired the annual general meeting of Tripura School Sports Board.Addressing the meeting Sushanta Choudhury said, “The department of Youth Affairs and Sports has been granted fund from the finance department to run a special Anti-drug mass awareness campaign across the state”.
Choudhury said, “Drug-menace is a major issue in the state these days and needs collective efforts to be eradicated”.He added, “Khelo Tripura Sustha Tripura can be achieved only if the youths of the society can be freed from the paws of drugs”.Discussing the steps that are to be taken to make the campaign successful, Choudhury said, “Target has been taken to provide Sports Kits of various indoor and outdoor games to 15, 000 clubs across the state”.
Besides, teams will be formed including officials and representatives of the Youth and Sports Department, Health Department, Police, Sub-divisional administration and social organizations that will conduct Bazaar meetings at each block and educate the society about the ill effects of drugs.Also, leaflets will be distributed in every market and the clubs will frequently organize various sports and recreational activities engaging the youths of the area.Stressing of speedy completion of the campaign within December next, the Minister added that “Khelo Tripura Sustha Tripura” scheme will be successfully implemented in the state only if the state can be made Drug-free.
