Agartala, 19th January 2025:  The Khowai District Electricity Department is facing serious operational difficulties, raising questions about its ability to handle emergency situations effectively.

On Sunday afternoon, residents of Khowai City witnessed a shocking scene – employees of the Electricity Department were seen pushing the department’s official vehicle through the busy Khowai Subhash Park Bazar area. This sight of an emergency service vehicle struggling to function has ignited widespread concern among locals.

The Khowai subdivision residents are voicing their concerns about the department’s ability to respond to urgent situations. If the Electricity Department’s vehicle, assigned to handle emergency services, has to be pushed on duty, questions arise about how department officials will reach critical spots during power failures, fires, or other emergencies.

As the monsoon season approaches, residents worry about potential accidents and the department’s preparedness to handle them. With Khowai city already experiencing sporadic power outages, the latest incident has further fueled public dissatisfaction with the Electricity Corporation’s performance.

Despite repeated attempts to contact the senior manager and DGM of the Khowai Electricity Department for comment on the matter, they have yet to respond. The lack of communication from the department’s top officials raises serious concerns about the management of essential services in the region.

The situation is particularly troubling given that Khowai city has been plunged into darkness for several hours since Sunday evening, further highlighting the inadequacies of the local electricity services.
