Agartala: April 16. Krishnapur Assembly Constituency under the Khowai district in Tripura is facing an extreme shortage of drinking water amidst the summer season. Distracted by the wailing of water, people are demanding drinking water by drawing the attention of the MLA and Minister from the assembly because the drinking water problem is increasing day by day in different parts of the Khowai district.
Not only in hilly areas under Krishnapur Assembly Constituency but also in plain land people are facing severe crisis of drinking water.
One such village is Baluchera, a vast area under Madhya Krishnapur Gram Panchayat. Allegedly, there is a drinking water problem in various areas including Balucherra of the concerned village panchayat for a long time. Allegedly water supply is off. As a result, there is a constant cry for water.
Although the local panchayat representatives have been informed about this problem many times, nothing has been done. Common people of this area including the Balucherra area of Madhya Krishnapur Gram Panchayat are very angry over the drinking water issue.
The area concerned is the assembly constituency of Tripura’s tribal welfare minister Bikas Debbarma. The common people of the minister’s constituency are openly claiming that their water problems have become acute day by day due to administrative negligence. What is to be seen now is the role of the officials of the concerned departments and the MLAs and Ministers of the area. If not, the angry residents are bound to start a movement in the coming days.
