Kiran Gitte stresses intensified awareness campaigns for better healthcare delivery

Agartala, 20th April 2026:  A state-level review meeting of the National Health Mission (NHM) and IEC/BCC (Information, Education, and Communication / Behavior Change Communication) activities was convened at the State Guest House in Agartala, under the chairmanship of Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

The meeting also assessed the functioning of key health initiatives including the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, and the Tripura AIDS Control Society.

The key attendees are Kiran Gitte, Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare; Saju Vaheed A., Mission Director, National Health Mission; Dr. Debashree Debbarma, Director of Health Services; Nupur Debbarma, Joint Mission Director, NHM; Dr. G.S. Naik, Executive Secretary, Tripura Health Protection Society; and other senior officials of the Health Department

The meeting highlights are: A comprehensive review of health indicators across Tripura was conducted; Discussions focused on the progress of public awareness campaigns and their implementation at the grassroots level; and Special emphasis was placed on strengthening healthcare delivery and intensifying awareness efforts.

Kiran Gitte emphasized: “To deliver high-quality healthcare services to the doorsteps of the people, the activities of the NHM must be made even more effective. Awareness campaigns must be further intensified.” He directed district-level officials to prioritize areas requiring urgent attention.

Saju Vaheed A. highlighted ongoing NHM projects aimed at enhancing health infrastructure, augmenting human resources, and strengthening the digital healthcare ecosystem.

Dr. Debashree Debbarma stressed the need to expand promotional activities to ensure disease prevention, early detection, and timely treatment.

The meeting concluded with several significant decisions designed to make Tripura’s healthcare delivery system more effective, accessible, and people-centric.
