Agartala, 21st May 2026: A new ray of hope has emerged for farmers in Tripura’s Unakoti District as the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) has achieved remarkable success in grape cultivation through the use of modern technology and scientific farming methods.
The grape cultivation initiative is being carried out by the district’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra with the joint support of Indian Council of Agricultural Research and National Research Centre for Grapes under the assistance of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The project is being supervised by horticulture scientist Dr. Ratan Das, who stated that successful grape cultivation has become possible in Unakoti’s climate through proper care, advanced technology, and scientific farming practices.
According to Dr. Das, experimental cultivation has already yielded promising results, opening up new avenues of income for local farmers in the future. To encourage farmers to adopt grape farming, the KVK is regularly providing training, technical assistance, and necessary guidance.
He further informed that there are plans to expand grape cultivation on a larger scale in the coming years.The initiative has generated widespread interest among farmers in the district. Agricultural experts believe that grape cultivation, as an alternative crop, could create new opportunities in the agricultural sector of Unakoti district.
