KVK, Sepahijala holds awareness programme on Information & Communication Technology

Agartala, 24th January 2024:  Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized awareness programme on Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Agriculture under the project “Impact of Access and Usage of Information & Communication Technology in IPM at North-Eastern Region of India” at Pathalia, Bishalgarh block, Sepahijala Tripura on Wednesday under the technical guidance of Dr. Subhash Chander, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi; Dr A.K. Mohanty, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Umiam; Prof. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal; Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi and Dr. Meenakshi Malik, Scientist, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam  Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The objective of the programme was to promote the role of ICT in agriculture/crop management and enhance the income of farmers.

Anita Das, Gram Pradhan and Uttam Shil, Gram Upa-Pradhan, Pathalia GP, Bishalgarh block, Sepahijala encouraged the farmers to adapt good agricultural practices for more crop production.

Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala accentuated on the importance of ICT in Agriculture. ICT supports farming community by facilitating rapid and timely information access on agro-inputs, fertilizers, use of biological control agents, pesticides, market information, market intelligence, scientific agricultural management of pest in different crops and crop production technologies etc.

Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala also organized poster campaign for easy understanding of the farmers. During the field visit, identification of insect pest, diseases was practically shown to the farmers. The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof Arun Bhai Patel, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and supervision of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK. A total of 48 farmers, farm women, rural youth were actively participated in the programme and interacted with specialist.
