KVK, Sepahijala holds one-day training cum awareness programme for good agricultural practices

Agartala, September 02, 2023: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized one day training cum awareness programme on “Eco-friendly tools and technologies for good agriculture practices of key crops” at KVK Sepahijala, Latiacherra, Jampuijala block in collaboration with ICAR-NCIPM New Delhi on Saturday under the technical guidance of Dr. Subhash Chander, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi and Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, CAU, Imphal. The objective of the programme was to aware famers about eco-friendly tools and technologies for good agriculture practices.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Subhash Chander, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi; Dr. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal, Prof (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU(I), Lembucherra, Tripura, Bimal Das, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala, Govt of Tripura and Dr. D.S. Srivastava, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK-II, Sitapur, Lucknow,  in presence of Dr. Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Sepahijala, Tripura; Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala and others.

Dr. Subhash Chander, Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi gave an inaugural address in this programme and insight into the importance of good agricultural practices for protecting environment, eco-friendly crop protection approach etc.

Dr. Ph. Ranjit Sharma, Director, Directorate of Extension Education, CAU, Imphal encouraged the farmers for promoting integrated pest management for sustainable agriculture. 

Bimal Das, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare highlighted different issue faced by farmers and encouraged to use eco-friendly tools in the field.

Prof (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, CAU (I), Lembucherra shared views on need of good agricultural practices for safety environment and  judicious use of chemical pesticides.

Dr. Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi, delivered a lecture on good agriculture practices of key crops, and different tools of IPM. Dr. D. S. Srivastava, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK-II, Sitapur, Lucknow, UP delivered a lecture on eco-friendly and cost effective methods of pest management.

Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala gave an insight into the importance and use of pheromone traps for pest management module. Dr. Dey also presented the previous year’s activity done in Sepahijala district in collaboration with ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra and supervision of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK. The programme was coordinated by Dr Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection) & Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Sepahijala. Dr. Chander, Hon’ble Director, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi appreciated the work done by KVK, Sepahijala

A total of 62 farmers, farm women, rural youth from Chikoncherra VC, Latiacherra VC and North Charilam GP were actively participated in the programme and interacted with specialist.
