KVK, Sepahijala holds workshop-cum-training program for extension personal on natural farming

Agartala, April 01, 2023: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sepahijala, CAU (I), Tripura organized workshop-cum-training programme for Extension Personal on Safekeeping the Environment through Sustainable Technology Roadmap: Natural Farming at Bishramganj on Friday last under the technical guidance of Dr Mukesh Sehgal, Principal Scientist, ICAR-NCIPM, New Delhi.

The programme was conducted under the esteemed guidance of Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of the CAU, Imphal. The objective of the programme was to create awareness on natural farming and reduce the use of chemical fertilisers / pesticides, the indiscriminate use of which pollutes the environment, and to promote good agronomic practices.

The programme was organized under the guidance of Prof (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha, Dean, College of Fisheries, Lembucherra, Tripura and supervision of Dr Shatabhisa Sarkar, Senior Scientist & Head of this KVK.

The programme was inaugurated by Krishnadhan Saha, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala encouraged the farmers to adopt natural farming and highlighted various path breaking ways for doubling of farmers’ income through chemical free farming.

Sankar Biswas, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala highlighted the importance of natural farming for healthy food and to escape the adverse effects of using chemical fertilizers/pesticides.

Pinaki Sankar Dey, Assistant Director, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Sepahijala accentuated on the importance of natural farming, different principles of natural farming and highlighted the different perspective of chemical free farming etc.

Dr. Utpal Dey, SMS (Plant Protection), KVK, Sepahijala district gave an insight into the importance of chemical-free farming for protecting soil and providing safe food products for a healthy society.

A total of 21 extension personals from Sepahijala district were actively participated in the programme and interacted with specialist.
