Agartala, January 06, 2023: Residents of Kwaifang ADC village under Santirbazar sub-division staged a protest in front of Srikanta Bari HS+2 School on Friday and gave deputation to the Acting headmaster of the school for appointment of a local hostel manager.
It is reported that a person from outside the area has been appointed to run the hostel at Srikanta Bari HS+2 School under Santirbazar sub-division. The students studying in this school belong to the indigenous community. Local people feel that people from the indigenous section are needed to manage these students.
On the other hand, residents complained that Kwaifang ADC Village has qualified people to do this work. Therefore, everyone demand that local people should be selected and appointed in the management of hostel. Residents protested at the school on Friday.
Later, a written deputation was given to the school authorities with the initiative of the local residents. When asked about this matter from the acting headmaster of the school, he said that he told Jolaibari school inspector Bikash Debnath over the phone about the demands of the local residents.
Later, the Acting Headmaster became frustrated and unsuccessfully tried to speak to District Education Officer Subir Majumder on phone. The district education officer Subir Majumdar is allegedly not receiving the phone of the acting headmaster of the school.
On the other hand, the local residents presented their demands in front of the media. What is now to be seen is the education department taking action in this regard.
