Labourer from Assam held with huge narcotics haul in Agartala

Agartala, 13th May 2026:   A major breakthrough was achieved by NCC Police on today when a large quantity of narcotics was seized from a rented house in Bhola Nanda Palli area of the capital. The accused identified as Arif Uddin (41), a labourer hailing from Patharkandi in Assam was arrested during the operation.

Police sources revealed that Arif had been residing for the past two years in the rented house of local resident Baisisht Chandra Das. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by the SDPO of NCC Police Station raided the premises. In the presence of an Executive Magistrate, a substantial cache of Yaba tablets was recovered from the accused’s room.

The SDPO confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are underway to determine who else may be involved in this illegal drug trade alongside Arif Uddin. The incident has raised serious concerns about the growing menace of narcotics in the city.
