Land dispute turns violent at Kailashahar, one hospitalized

Date:

Agartala, 3rd July 2026:   A long-standing land purchase dispute led to violence in Bhadra Nagar, located between Gour Nagar and Bhagwan Nagar in Kailashahar, leaving one man seriously injured. The victim was rushed to Unakoti District Hospital, and police have launched an investigation following a written complaint at Kailashahar Police Station.

It is reported that Akbar Ali, a resident of Bhagwan Nagar, was attacked on Friday morning while working on his land. He alleged that Habibur Rahman, Motiur Rahman, Sharif Ali, Sani, and others assaulted him with sticks, leaving him grievously injured. Locals rushed to his aid after hearing his cries, while the accused fled the scene.

Akbar Ali claimed he had purchased land from the accused in 2015, but as the necessary documents were never completed, he filed a case in 2022 based on an agreement. Since then, he alleged, the accused had been threatening him, and Friday’s attack was a continuation of that dispute.

Police have begun investigating the matter, though no response from the accused was available at the time of reporting.
