Landmark MoA signed for Ramakrishna Mission school of languages and centre of human excellence

Agartala, 2nd June 2026:  : A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed today between the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura, and Ramakrishna Mission & Math, Viveknagar, Agartala, for the establishment and operationalization of the Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages and Ramakrishna Mission Centre of Human Excellence.

The MoA signing ceremony was held at Conference Hall No. II of the Civil Secretariat Building, New Capital Complex, Agartala, at 4:30 PM in the presence of  Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, Minister for Industries & Commerce Santana Chakma, senior government officials, representatives of Ramakrishna Mission, and distinguished guests.

Addressing the gathering, the Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, highlighted that the Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages and Ramakrishna Mission Centre of Human Excellence is the first institution of its kind in the entire North-Eastern region. He informed that all necessary approvals and validations for the initiative have already been obtained from the Finance Department and Law Department of the Government of Tripura.

Gitte further stated that the institution is expected to become operational within the next two months, and the Directorate of Skill Development will undertake the process of identifying and selecting suitable candidates for the various courses to be offered under the programme.

The Secretary Maharaj of Ramakrishna Mission informed that the Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages presently imparts training in as many as 18 languages through its established centres in Hyderabad and Kolkata. He stated that classes under the new initiative are proposed to commence at the Ramakrishna Mission campus at Gangail within the next two months. He emphasized that the institution has been conceived not only for the benefit of the people of Tripura but also for learners from across the North-Eastern States. He further informed that the Centre will be equipped with modern facilities including a digital library, meditation centre, smart classrooms, and other contemporary learning amenities to provide a holistic educational environment.

 Chief Minister, Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, observed that the establishment of the Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages and Centre of Human Excellence would remain a significant milestone in the developmental history of Tripura. He emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing the immense potential of the youth for nation-building and socio-economic progress. The Chief Minister stated that the Centre would play a pivotal role in fostering social development by promoting value-based education, personality development, and human excellence.

Chief Minister further noted that the School of Languages would provide opportunities for learning a wide range of foreign languages, enabling the youth of Tripura to acquire globally relevant linguistic skills. Such competencies would significantly enhance their prospects for employment and career opportunities in foreign countries and international organizations. He also remarked that the institution would serve as a centre of learning not only for young people but also for their family members and other interested learners, thereby contributing to the creation of a knowledge-driven society.

Chief Minister emphasized that Tripura’s strategic location under India’s Act East Policy presents significant opportunities in sectors such as tourism, hospitality, international trade, business services, and technology. In this context, proficiency in multiple languages and strong communication skills are becoming increasingly important for enhancing employability and global competitiveness. Under the initiative, the Ramakrishna Mission School of Languages will provide structured training in internationally recognized foreign languages, including German, French, Japanese, and Spanish. In addition, the institution will also offer courses in Indian languages such as Sanskrit, Hindi, and Tamil, thereby promoting India’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage while strengthening national integration and cultural understanding. The Centre of Human Excellence will focus on personality development, leadership training, communication skills, and value-based education aimed at nurturing confident, responsible, and socially conscious citizens.

Chief Minister reiterated the Government of Tripura’s commitment to creating a skilled, employable, and future-ready workforce through innovative partnerships and capacity-building initiatives. He expressed confidence that the School of Languages and Centre of Human Excellence would emerge as premier institutions serving not only Tripura but the entire North-Eastern region. Congratulating the Directorate of Skill Development and Ramakrishna Mission for this landmark collaboration, the Chief Minister conveyed his best wishes for the successful implementation of the project and called upon all stakeholders to work collectively for the empowerment of youth and the overall development of the state.
