Laying of synthetic football turf in Umakanta and in Majlishpur is almost over: Sushanta

Agartala: August 27. State government is very much serious about the development of football starting from its infrastructure and exploring new talents for football, said Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury today.

“In order to take forward the sports field in the state, the State Government’s Department of Youth and Sports Affairs has given utmost importance to infrastructural development and as part of this, the construction of a world class “Synthetic Football Turf” football ground at Umakanta Maidan in the capital Agartala under the financial support of the State Government is nearing completion. The construction of world-class “Synthetic Football Turf” at a cost of 5 (Five) crores is almost complete to realize the long-time dream of the football lovers of the capital Agartala. It will be inaugurated soon”, the minister said.

Today afternoon the minister has visited Umakanta mini stadium to inspect the construction site of this world class Synthetic Football Turf field.

He also talked to the officials involved in the construction of this Synthetic Football Turf ground and directed to complete the remaining work as soon as possible.Later, the minister has visited the Sachindranagar School Ground in his Majlishpur Assembly Constituency to inspects the ongoing work of synthetic football turf field at the school ground.

“Tripura government’s concerted efforts to improve the state’s sports infrastructure and the long-term dream of the people of Majlishpur are on its way! The laying of Synthetic Football Turf field at Sachindranagar School Ground is nearing completion. After being elected as an MLA in 2018, my dream was to build a world class synthetic football turf field here. After assuming charge as Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Department, I took necessary steps for this here”, the minister said.

 The work of this Synthetic Football Turf at a cost of around 5  Crores is now almost complete in order to realize the long-standing dream of Majlishpur residents. It will be inaugurated soon. During today’s visit, Secretary of Youth Affairs and Sports Department Pradeep Kumar Chakraborty, Director Subikash Debbarma, Joint Director Paimong Mog, Deputy Director Banjit Bagjee, Biplab Dutta and others were present.
