Agartala, 6th January 2026:  The condolence ceremony of Bishwabandhu Sen, MLA from Dharmanagar and Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly was held today at his residence in Dharmanagar. Sen passed away on December 26, 2025, at the age of 72, leaving the entire state in mourning.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, who arrived in Dharmanagar by train earlier in the day. He was welcomed at the railway station by district leaders and party workers before proceeding directly to Sen’s residence. There, he met the bereaved family members and offered floral tributes, praying for the departed leader’s soul.

Tripura minister Santana Chakma, North District BJP president Kajal Das, North District Sabhadhipati Arpana Nath, along with other public representatives and party leaders, also attended the ceremony to pay their respects.

Later in the day, Bhattacharjee joined a condolence meeting organized at the BJP district office in Dharmanagar. Leaders present offered flowers at Sen’s portrait and observed a solemn tribute.

Remembering Sen’s contributions, Bhattacharjee said the loss was “truly irreparable.” He noted that the state had not only lost a Speaker and MLA but also a versatile personality — a politician, playwright, Jatra artist, poet, and a man of noble character. “His ideals will remain an inspiration for future generations. Even at 72, he continued to work tirelessly, which is why the people of Tripura will never forget him,” Bhattacharjee added.
