Agartala, 10th March 2026:   Even before the official announcement of the by-election schedule for the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency, the Left Front has created a stir in political circles by declaring its candidate. The Left Front has nominated Amitabh Dutta as its candidate for the upcoming by-election in the Dharmanagar Assembly seat. Following the announcement, a massive rally was organized in Dharmanagar town in support of Amitabh Dutta.

A large number of party workers and supporters participated in the procession, marching through various streets of the town. At the front of the rally, party banners carried slogans calling on the people of Dharmanagar to elect Amitabh Dutta in order to strengthen the struggle for citizens’ safety, livelihood, and food security, and to stand against what the party described as politics of arrogance, intimidation, and destruction. The rally was held under tight security arrangements by the police administration. The heightened security comes in the wake of an incident a few months ago when Amitabh Dutta and several Left leaders were allegedly attacked during a party programme.
