Agartala, December 12: The Leo Club of Dharmanagar organized the thought-provoking ‘Ink & Intellect’ program, featuring an engaging debate cycle aimed at fostering intellectual discourse. The event was inaugurated by Biswa Bandhu Sen, Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, who symbolically commenced the proceedings by sprinkling water on the trees.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Pradyut De Sarkar, Chairperson of Dharmanagar Municipal Council, District Education Officer Sukhamoy Nath, and Lion Leon Shubhankar Sen, former District Governor of Lions Club.
The heart of the program revolved around a spirited debate on the topic “Is Technology Killing Creativity?” Eight schools from Dharmanagar Municipal Council participated in this enlightening exchange of ideas. The event also featured captivating cultural performances by artists Sanhita Chowdhury, Aditi Nath, and the ‘Dance Verse’ team, adding a rhythmic touch to the intellectual gathering.
An open quiz added an interactive element to the occasion, drawing enthusiastic participation from students and the audience alike. Sabina Parveen Roli from Dharmanagar Government Girls’ School was recognized as the team’s best speaker for the motion, while Amartya Das from Tripureshwari Shishu Teertha received the accolade for the team’s best speaker against the motion. Both winners were honoured with cash prizes.
Commending the Leo Club of Dharmanagar, Sen acknowledged the program’s success in enriching the educational landscape of public speaking. He emphasized that ‘Ink & Intellect’ not only provided a platform for intellectual exchange but also celebrated the vibrant cultural heritage of Dharmanagar. The event marked a significant contribution to the intellectual and cultural vitality of the community.
