Agartala, 2nd November 2024 : A shocking incident took place at Mamani Medical Hall located in front of Bishalgarh sub-divisional hospital where its owner faces serious allegations regarding the sale of expired medicines. The situation came to a head on Saturday at 5 pm, when a patient’s family demanded the urgent intervention of the health department, citing the sale of expired medication.
Eyewitnesses reported that the experienced staff at Mamani Medical Hall has been regularly selling expired medicines without the supervision of a qualified pharmacist. A particularly distressing case involved a patient’s family who was asked to procure medicine from the store. Instead of receiving the required tablets, an expired injection was provided. This mishap has heightened the community’s alarm.
“There are several drug stores near Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital profiting by selling low-quality medicines. Some shop owners, who have no formal education in the field, hire pharmacists and continue to distribute substandard drugs,” a local resident claimed.
The residents’ growing frustration is evident. “Despite numerous complaints, the authorities have failed to address the issue. We are concerned that some health department officials might be turning a blind eye in exchange for bribes,” said another local.
In response to these grave accusations, the health department has been urged to conduct thorough investigations and take stringent actions against those involved. The integrity of the local medical supply is now under scrutiny, with the community demanding immediate reforms to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
