Agartala, 2nd April 2024:   In Bidyabil area of Asharambari assembly constituency, residents took to the streets in frustration over a week-long electricity outage, plunging the region into discomfort amidst scorching temperatures. The protest saw locals blocking the Khowai-Kamalpur 208 National Highway, demanding urgent reforms in the electricity supply.

For seven days, Bidyabil residents endured the sweltering heat without power, exacerbating their daily struggles. Despite repeated complaints to the Tulashikar power department regarding the erratic voltage and frequent outages, their pleas fell on deaf ears, exacerbating water shortages and disrupting daily life.

The blockade, which lasted for nearly two hours, inconvenienced commuters and attracted attention from Champahor police station. Despite initial attempts by law enforcement to disperse the protesters, the blockade persisted.

Responding to the escalating situation, the SDM intervened, engaging with demonstrators and assuring them of action. Following discussions with the SDM and receiving assurances of swift resolution, the blockade was lifted, bringing temporary relief to the disgruntled residents of Bidyabil.
