Agartala, 24th August 2025:   Residents of Ambassa have unanimously decided to socially boycott Sabita Das, the Ward 12 councilor of Ambassa Municipal Council following a series of allegations concerning her conduct and public dealings.

The decision was taken during a community meeting held at Ambassa Colony Anganwadi Centre (AWC), convened by residents from Wards 9, 10 and 12. Participants cited long-standing grievances against Das, accusing her of unruly behavior, alleged ties to anti-social elements and mistreatment of locals. She has also been accused of demanding illicit commissions from development projects and land transactions.

Tensions escalated recently when Das was reportedly involved in a smear campaign against local schoolteacher Ratan Das. The community, however, rallied in support of the teacher, further intensifying public outrage.

The resolution to sever all social ties with the councilor has triggered widespread repercussions across the town. Some observers suggest the move may be linked to internal factionalism within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), although no formal statement has been issued by party representatives.

Attempts to reach Sabita Das for comment were unsuccessful.
