Agartala, 20th February 2025: Residents of Shilachari held a protest against the National Wellfield Service Company due to the company’s activities in Ailmara and Devtamura areas for mineral resource recovery. The locals carried black flags as a sign of their dissatisfaction, alleging that constant bomb explosions by the company have caused significant losses to the community.
Despite informing the company’s representatives and the administration, no compensation has been provided. The protesters are demanding the immediate removal of the company and suggest that the work be handed over to Rectek Power instead.
“We don’t want to obstruct government work; we all want development. However, we cannot support this company’s methods,” said a local resident.
The residents have warned of a larger movement if their demands are not met, and it remains to be seen how the administration will respond to their concerns.
