Agartala, 26th April 2025: In a decisive operation, the Madhupur Police Station staff showcased their capability to act promptly and effectively. Acting on information about two stolen rubber machines from the house of Samir Sarkar in the Aurobindnagar area, Madhupur Police Station OC Debajit Chatterjee led a significant force to investigate.
“We received information about the theft and immediately mobilized our team to Arvindnagar,” said OC Chatterjee. After speaking with residents, police deduced that the culprits might still be nearby. “We decided to monitor all exit routes to ensure no one could leave the area unnoticed,” he added.
The vigilance paid off when two Bolero pickup trucks—one bearing the registration number TR-07D1905 and the other without a number were intercepted. Upon inspection, officers recovered the stolen rubber machines from one of the vehicles and arrested one of the suspects, Indrajit Nama alias Jayanta, who resides in the Madhya Lakshmibil area under Bishalgarh Police Station.
Investigations revealed that the gang used the trucks, one fitted with a concealed cover, to smuggle stolen goods, disguising their operations with other cargo, including biscuit-making equipment. Another individual, Jewel Ahmed, is suspected to be involved in the thefts.
Local residents, angered by the incident, reportedly vandalized the vehicles before they were taken into custody. Both trucks, along with the apprehended suspect, were brought to Madhupur Police Station for further investigation.
“This operation is a testament to what can be achieved with swift action and community cooperation,” OC Chatterjee remarked, highlighting the collaborative effort that led to the breakthrough. The investigation is ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and recover additional stolen goods.
