Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s birthday commemorated; CM Dr Manik Saha pays tribute and emphasizes legacy

Agartala, August 19: The birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, revered as the architect of modern Tripura, was observed with solemnity and festivity this Saturday.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha led the dignitaries in paying their respects at the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur, situated at the iconic zero point of MBB Chowmuhani in the capital city. Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the occasion was marked by a ceremonial cake-cutting. Accompanying the Chief Minister were Bikash Debbarma, Minister of Janajati Kalyan Department, Dipak Majumdar, the Mayor, and other esteemed administrative officials.

Addressing the media, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to follow the visionary path charted by Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur in the pursuit of ‘Ek Tripura Shrestha Tripura’ (One Supreme Tripura).Dr. Saha also countered assertions made by the previous administration, asserting that Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s contributions had been undervalued.

He underscored how the present government, established in 2018 under the legacy of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya, had rightfully restored the respect and recognition due to the visionary leader.

In recognition of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s significant role in shaping Tripura, the state government declared his birthday as a public holiday, aiming to ensure that the younger generation is well-acquainted with his historic contributions.
