Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya’s 114th birth anniversary celebrated across state

Agartala, August 19, 2022: Tripura government, TTAADC, BJP state committee and Maharaja Bir Bikram Welfare Society on Friday celebrated the 114th birth anniversary of the Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur across the state in a grand way.

On Friday morning, a colourful procession organized by the Maharaja Bir Bikram Society marched through different roads of the capital city and gathered in front of Ujjayanta Palace here where royal scion Pragya Debbarman cut a cake in presence of a indigenous people.

On the other hand, Pradesh BJP president and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha offered floral tribute to the portrait of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur at party’s state headquarters here in presence of Organizational Secretary of Assam and Tripura Phanindranath Sarma, vice-president Rajib Bhattacharjee, and other leaders and workers.Speaking to reporters here, Dr Saha wished the people of Tripura on Maharaja’s birthday. “The developments took place during his period are still unimaginable on the present day. The previous governments intentionally did not highlight significance of royal family. The central and state governments along with BJP tried many things to return the honour of royal family in Tripura. Even, Agartala Airport has been renamed after Maharaja’s name”, he added.

Chief Minister castigated the previous governments in Tripura for utilising indigenous people for vote-bank politics during elections. He added “Earlier, we were well aware that the previous government in Tripura has been involved in vote-bank politics with the indigenous people of the state. In reality, we have done a lot and we will do a lot for the sake of the tribal population of Tripura.”

Later, Dr Saha went to Santirbazar and unveiled a statue of Maharaja in presence of MP Rebati Tripura and Tribal Welfare minister Rampada Jamatia along with others.Apart from this, Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) celebrated the 114th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur at MBB Lampra in Khumulwng. Adviser and Chairman of Administration Reforms Committee and MDC Pradyot Bikram Kishore Manikya Debbarma remained present as the chief guest. Chairman Jagadish Debbarma was present. EM of Health department Kamal Kalai, EM of Sports and Youth Affairs department Suhel Debbarma, MLA Brishaketu Debbarma, MDC Rabindra Debbarma, MDC Ganesh Debbarma, MDC Umashankar Debbarma, MDC Runeil Debbarma, MDC Saudagar Kalai were present. Zonal Chairman of West Zonal Ranjit Debbarma presided over the programme.
