Major success in Forest department operation: Illegal timber recovered in North district

Agartala, 25th January 2025:   The Forest Department of North Tripura district conducted a successful raid recovering illegal illegal timber worth approximately Rs 10 lakh. The operation took place today around 1 pm at the residence of Faizul Haque in the Piarichara area of Ward No. 2, Tarakpur Gram Panchayat, Dharmanagar Sub-Division.

Acting on a tip-off from a confidential source, the forest department team led by Dharmanagar SDFO Ashok Kumar, recovered 80 CFT of illegally stored wood during the raid. Forest Ranger Supriyo Debnath, Kadamtala Forest Beat In-charge Abhijit Das, and other forest officials were part of the operation.

“Despite the owner of the house, Faizul Haque, fleeing during the raid, we have filed a case under the Forest Department Act and initiated an investigation Apart from recovering the illegally stored sawn timber, we are continuing our efforts to prevent such activities. Strict action will be taken against the culprits,” said SDFO Ashok Kumar.

The raid highlights the Forest Department’s commitment to combating illegal activities in the region. Previous successful operations under the leadership of Kadamtala Forest Beat In-charge Abhijit Das further attest to the team’s skill and dedication.
