Agartala, 17th November 2025: Tripura police arrested one individual with illegal narcotics including Yaba tablets and banned cough syrup during a raid at his residence in Rangutia under Bamutia outpost of Lefunga police station.
The accused identified as Debasish Sarkar had allegedly been storing and consuming narcotics at home for a long time, even in front of his parents, wife, and children. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team led by Lefunga police station OC Sahadev Das and Bamutia outpost OC Anthony Jamatia, along with TSR personnel, conducted the raid and seized the contraband.
Police confirmed that Sarkar was taken into custody and produced before court under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
Speaking to the media personnel, OC Sahadev Das said, “We received confidential information and launched the operation. The accused was found with narcotics and has been booked under the NDPS Act. He has been sent to court today.”
Authorities noted that Sarkar had been influencing local youths into drug addiction, undermining the state government’s campaign for a drug-free Tripura. Officials stressed that public cooperation is essential to achieve this goal.
Police assured that similar anti-narcotics operations will continue in the coming days to curb the spread of illegal substances in the region.
