Agartala, 29th November 2025: A tense situation erupted on Saturday morning in the Icharbil Solgharia area under Teliamura subdivision of Khowai district, after a man—reportedly a brick kiln worker—was brutally attacked by locals who suspected him of involvement in child trafficking. The incident sparked chaos and heightened tension across the locality.

According to local sources, the man, identified as Sandeep Mahato, was allegedly seen speaking to children in a manner that raised suspicion among residents. Within minutes, a mob gathered, surrounded him, and began assaulting him. Mahato was dragged onto the road and subjected to a severe beating, eventually collapsing on the ground, badly injured and bleeding.

Upon receiving information, a team from Teliamura Police Station rushed to the scene and managed to disperse the crowd. The injured man was rescued and immediately taken to the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Hospital for medical treatment.

Police officials stated that Mahato’s reason for being in the area is still unclear and that he is currently being interrogated.

“We received a call alleging that the man was attempting to kidnap a child. When we reached the spot, we rescued him from the public, as he had been badly beaten. He has sustained multiple injuries,” a police official said.
